Four Years Ago

On 20 January, 2009, I went to the Columbia University campus to watch the inauguration ceremony of Barack Obama. In a historic election the previous November, America had elected its first black president. Obama had attended Columbia University and so I thought it a good idea to watch the proceedings there. People gathered in the courtyard outside the library, where a jumbotron was erected. It was sunny day, but it was also very cold and windy to be standing outside. However, hot apple cider was being freely distributed and this made things a lot better. Below are a few pictures that attempted to capture the mood at the time:

  1. I’d love to hear your caption for that photo with the person in red scarf and coat. to me it calls up some sort of grimm reaper or something equally terrifying. Also, because you can’t see the face you wonder if it’s a zombie or something. But I’ll bet you could link it to politics somehow. Let’s hear it!
